GCC a new name in general contracting but with
a history and a wealth of expenence. The general
contracting industry throughout the Gulf and
particularly in Saudi Arabia, is facing an unprecedented
boom. Mega projects abound in all fields and
all requiring the services of suitably qualified
contractors. Until now, with but few exceptions,
the local contracting industry could not respond
effectively to the degree required. With the
above circumstances in mind, several forward-looking
local contracting entities agreed to pool their
experience and resources with a view to forming
a general contracting company with the power
to meet the present and future demands in the
region for a strong locally based company. Thus
was born GCC, having the benefit of local knowledge
and experience together with a powerful history
of construction over the past 50 years or so,
however the focus is strongly towards the future.
The constituent companies include the construction
arms of FAFCO-PETCON (Abdullah Fouad), Abdullah
H. Al-Shuwayer, Al-Tamimi plus Al-Jabr Trading.
Collectively , this grouping has experience
throughout the full spectrum of the industrial
construction market to include all aspects of
building, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical
and instrumentation disciplines and also including
a strong background in the specialist pipeline
and steel fabrication fields.
Much of this extensive historical in-Kingdom
experience has been built serving Saudi Aramco
-the national oil company and the largest oil
corporation in the world, Saudi Electricity
Company (SEC) -the national electrical energy
supplier and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation
(SABIC) -currently one of the largest global
producers of petrochemicals via their multiple
in-Kingdom affiliated companies,ensuring that
the experience so gained was to the highest
standards.
GCC constituent companies have shown a quality
initiative and to be thus recognized as worthy
holders of ISO 9001:2000, plus the added value
of ASME certificates of authorization for code
stamps and the National Board where appropriate.
The objective of this merger exercise remains
as originally envisaged via early discussions,
i.e. "To harness the joint and varied attributes
of the main companies involved, in order to
build a general contracting company with a well
diversified capability and of sufficient stature
and experience to be able to undertake the scale
and scope of the large industrial plant and
related construction projects currently planned
in the region and beyond."
Under one unified organization we intend to
operate as three divisions within Saudi Arabia
(1) GCC Plant Construction, (2) GCC Pipeline
Construction and (3) Transport & Equipment
Rental, although we anticipate considerable
interplay between the divisions in order to
cater to targeted projects. Via these divisions
we shall be targeting the larger multidiscipline
industrial projects as currently planned both
in-Kingdom and elsewhere in the Gulf.
